There is always the pros and cons on both Wimax and Streamyx. Malaysian been using Streamyx since 2001. The company holds a near monopoly for Internet service in Malaysia, largely because almost all the connections in the country are owned by TM Bhd. We had no other choices but to accept Streamyx. No matter how bad the service and speed provided by Streamyx but we are still using it, still paying the monthly subscription unwillingly. However, TM Bhd will compensate if they failed to deliver their promises, nevertheless how many times will / can u complain?
Well, this long waited wimax has finally in town! However there is still no perfection. First, not everywhere coverage yet. 2ndly, apartment higher than 6th floor will have signal problem, some of them need to place the modem at the window. 3rdly, this is the funniest criteria that I ever heard, Wimax’s modem need a “fengshui” place in order to get full bar of signal! I know, you guys will gonna say “Streamyx too”. But this “fengshui” is not like once u found it, it will be the good fengshui forever. Absolutely NOT! It is after been awhile of using it at the so called “fengshui” place, u may need to switch for another good fengshui, cause the signal will suddenly go haywire. Isn’t it funny? Well, people will still prefer and accepted Wimax than Streamyx. Lastly, cloudy weather (before the heavy rain), you see signal interuption (like Astro, but of course this wimax is much better than Astro).
Since both is about the same to have this pros and cons, why are people still rather go for Wimax? Don’t forget, in order to achieve the satisfaction, you need to subscribe at least Home-Plus package (RM99 / month). If you like to play online game or download lots of movie and series, Home-Plus package may be not sufficient. Then, you may need to look for Home-Pro package, which will cost you RM199. If you ever call to their call-center, I think P1 and TM has not much different in term of customer service, both deserve the big slap!
With all these cons (many of the users knew about it), when you ask people about Wimax and Streamyx, which one will you prefer? The answer will still go to “Wimax”. Not that Wimax is good or better than Streamyx, to me, both are about the same. But why the answer will still go to “Wimax”?
